Rooted, stable heavy equipment manufacturer is seeking a Service Manager to fill the shoes of a long-term employee who is retiring.  The Service Manager will oversee a team of service technicians and will report to a Vice President. Your daily responsibilities include:
 
  • Coach, mentor and develop direct reports to exceed their individual and company goals
  • Create and prioritize the schedule for the service technicians based on the customer or distributor sense of urgency 
  • Provide customers with the information they need to rent or purchase suitable equipment
  • Direct the daily operations of the service team to maintain efficiency and productivity
  • Ensure the necessary resources and tools are available to deliver quality customer service
  • Implement strategies to improve service quality, productivity and profitability
  • Develop and implement customer service policies and procedures to enhance satisfaction and loyalty
  • Train employees on best practices for customer satisfaction and brand promotion
  • Assist with new model introduction by working with engineering and sales 
  • Instruct customers on the operation, care and maintenance of equipment
  • Develop contracts and review warranty claims for customers with ongoing equipment rental or purchase needs
  • Manage the work order system, including logging and generating service invoices
  • Review and address customer problems or issues promptly and effectively, including taking after hour calls as needed.
  • Other duties as directed by management 
 
The company is seeking a candidate that enjoys spending up to 20-25% of their time traveling domestically to customers and potential work sites for training and customer service needs.  Successful candidates will have excellent problem-solving skills, strong written and verbal communication, be timely and responsive to customers and be able to handle fires as they come up.  The company's competitive medical benefits are available the 1st of the month after hire, 401K eligibility is day one of employment, profit sharing, holidays, vacation, HSA contribution, life insurance and short term disability.
 
REQUIREMENTS for the Service Manager: 
1. Post-secondary education is preferred; a high school diploma is required 
2. At least 3-5 years of similar heavy equipment experience in a service manager or superintendent/foreman role  
3. Experience working in the heavy equipment industry, either at a manufacturer or on a job site 
4. Experience overseeing others 
5. Mechanical aptitude 
6. Microsoft Office skills, including Word and Excel 
 
Skills preferred but NOT required:
1. Technical degree in mechanical or electrical 
2. Previous experience as a service technician

Candidates are required to be local to the Mansfield, OH area.  Relocation is available for candidates with the required skill sets that are willing to live in the Mansfield, OH area.  There is NO remote work available for this position; candidates are required to be in the office daily.
